Official Translations
What is an official translation
Official translation – also known as legally valid translation, sworn translation or certified translation – is issued to confirm the authenticity and validity of a document, so it may be accepted by an official body. Based on the Greek legislation, official translations are validated by translation graduates of the Ionian University and lawyers.
Certain documents must also be certified with an Apostille stamp to be accepted by a foreign state.
Which documents require official translation
Official translation is usually required for public documents that will be submitted to public or private sector bodies in Greece or abroad.
1. Public documents (ID cards, passports, diplomas, certificates, registry certificates, etc.).
2. Financial and commercial documents (tax returns, taxpayer statements, pension plans, articles of association, balance sheets, etc.).
3. Legal documents (wills, agreements, contracts, covenants, proxies, etc.).
4. Academic degrees (diplomas, postgraduate and doctorate degrees, academic transcripts, etc.).
